MURA’s fourth quarter has been rather quiet. That’s okay, as it’s been an eventful year as president with the contributions of so many members. We celebrated MURA’s 35th anniversary, raised record funds for the MURA Kitty Dickerson scholarship fund, and increased the number and scholarship amount awarded.
We changed the bylaws to offer complimentary membership to new retirees (seeing significant uptake in the offer), updated the Policies and Procedures manual, and garnered increased sponsorships.
We seamlessly maintained operations when the webhost went out of business, secured support and hosting for the website by MU, and are well on the way to launching the new website.
And we maintained a high level of participation in the socials, breakfasts and committees. We also put out four wonderful newsletters and are well on the way to having an ADA-compliant website. Whew!
Lest you think I intend to claim credit for any of this, think again. This all happened because of incredible Board, committee, and MURA members. I especially want to thank Janie Harmon, Jim Scott, all the MURA committee chairs/liaisons/representatives, Board members-at-large, and past presidents for their work and guidance. In addition, a special thank-you to our Communications Committee—Barb Harris, Judy Maseles, Mary Licklider, and Karma Metzgar for their constancy, consistency, and tenacity. Beyond all these, the list is long but no less important and noteworthy. Often overlooked, however, are the members who sent emails of support, suggestions or questions.
Last but not least, a special thank-you to our friends at Central Bank for their generous support, valuable information, and regular participation; President Choi for his support; the continued partnership with the Mizzou Store; and Tiger Place for its support.
