Treasurer’s Report
The MU Retirees Association has ended fiscal year 2026 with a cash balance on hand of $18,550.65 and investments with Vanguard in the amount of $126,023.37. The Cash Flows statement included on page 2 shows the actual receipts and disbursements for the year ended June 30, 2026, as compared to the previous fiscal year. Cash on hand increased by $2,197.32, and the investments in Vanguard increased in value by $5,707.25 over the course of the year.
Sponsorships received from Central Bank & Trust and from Tiger Place were used to offset costs for our spring business meeting, monthly breakfasts, and the holiday luncheon. We thank these sponsors for their generosity and continued support of the organization.
Notes on the MURA FY2027 budget and FY 2025-27 analysis are as follows:
1New members have been offered one free year as a trial membership.
2Central Bank & Trust agreed to sponsor our breakfast meetings and holiday luncheon for each of the previous four years. Tiger Place has sponsored the spring business meeting in three of the last four years.
3Funds deposited into the MURA PayPal account from BMO Harris Bank National Association are likely class action settlement payouts.
4This budget line is for the expenses and room deposits associated with the annual Board orientation and quarterly Board meetings.
5AROHE is offering a conference in Florida in fall 2027. MURA has provided funding in the past to send one person to this conference.
6Dues paid to the Flagship Council will include the request that it not be used for the endorsement of any political candidates.
7In recognition of MURA’s 35th anniversary in FY 2026, the Board approved matching funds up to $3,500 for donations to the MURA Kitty Dickerson Scholarship fund and called it the $35 for 35 Scholarship Campaign.
8Members register and pay online if they plan to attend a monthly breakfast meeting and/or the holiday social. Central Bank & Trust has provided support to keep the cost to members affordable. However, costs to hold these events continue to escalate.
9Registration fees will be charged to members to attend spring and fall socials hosted by President Choi. The net receipts from these events will be donated to the MURA Kitty Dickerson scholarship fund.10Investment income is estimated at the level of current year actuals. Transferring the amount of lifetime dues received during the year to Vanguard will continue to provide a stable revenue stream for the organization. The amount to transfer in FY 2027 is the combined amount of FY 2026 and FY 2027 lifetime dues.
