Board Meeting Minutes

October 12, 2005

Meeting was called to order by President Tom Freeman at 2:00 p.m. Those in attendance were: Tom Freeman, Ernest Hilderbrand, John Bauman, Jo Behymer, Bob Marshall, Ruth Miluski, Loretta Ross, Gary Smith, Kee Groshong, Bill Stringer, Rod Gelatt, Charles Cramer, Sylvia Bradfield, and Herb Brown.

Minutes - of the July 5, 2005 meeting were approved - Groshong/Smith.

Treasurer's- Report was distributed and showed a checkbook balance of $3271.05 as of August 31, 2005 and as of October 7, 2005 total assets were $50,216.78 - Bob Marshall.

Program - Committee will meet within the next week to discuss the Holiday luncheon. The menu will be the same as last year and $16.00 will be charged - Rod Gelatt.

Membership - shows 563 lifetime members and a total of 1,401 member. It was suggested to correct email addresses where necessary, providing that the MU Mail Room can handle the added line well above the address. Ernest Hilderbrand.

Retiree Benefits - John Bauman is providing an article for our November 2005 Newsletter. It was noted that the Chancellor's Retiree Advisory committee currently has no Chairperson. This should be followed up as this is an important committee.

Awards - committee has the nomination form, which will be in the next Newsletter. Jo Behymer encouraged everyone to submit names of faculty and staff for this award to be given at the Chancellor's lunch on March 22, 2006.

Liaison to University Administration - Gary Smith raised issues that the Four-Campus Retirees Representatives should discuss with our UM President and Vice President at their November 18th meeting and encouraged the BOD to talk to the faculty council current and past chairs as well as staff council current and past chairs to work together toward this. Jo Behymer moved to present the data to the Chancellor, Faculty Council (past chairs) and Staff Council. Bill Stringer seconded, voted on and approved by the BOD.

Newsletter - Tom Freeman reported that our November 2005 Newsletter will go to press in late October, with mail-out in early-to mid-November.

Staff Council - Loretta Ross stated that Allen Marshall is the new chairperson. They have set their goals for the next year with "85 and out" as their top priority.

Reynolds Information Desk - Gary Smith encouraged everyone to send their friends to volunteer. Rod Gelatt will offer a paragraph promoting participation in this activity in our November 2005 Newsletter.
