PDF Printable version of MinutesThe meeting was called to order by President Jo Behymer. Those in attendance were: Behymer, Hildebrand, Groshong, Stewart, Parker, Marshall, Hahn, Smith, Freeman, Ross, Hunvald, and Bradfield
President Behymer welcomed new BOD members Al Hahn (Chancellor Ret. Advisory) and Ed Hunvald (Faculty Council) to the meeting as well as new BOD members who were not in attendance: Darlene Miles (Awards Nominating), Jim Bunton (Ombudsman) and Jean Zwonitzer (Co-Chair of Membership).
Minutes from the July 5 BOD meeting were approved with changes. Minutes from August 2007 special meeting and email “meetings” were also approved with changes. President Behymer will discuss with IT if MURA can make a purchase of special software for use by Ernest Hilderbrand for membership use. Future minutes will be sent to BOD via email for approval, then added to the MURA website for members to view in a more timely manner.
Doris Littrell was appointed to a three-year term on the Chancellor’s Retiree committee. Hahn/Groshong – approved by BOD.
The appointment of Sylvia Bradfield as MURA Secretary was approved for a two-year term, after appointment by President Behymer. Groshong/Stewart
Treasurer Report – Bob Marshall. The treasurer’s report was approved. Smith/Hahn
Program Committee – Kee Groshong. The November 17th meeting has scheduled Coach Anderson, Diane Drainer, Ken Hutchinson, and a United Way film, as well as a flu shot clinic conducted by Sinclair Home Care, the University Home Health agency.
Breakfast Program – John Parker. The first meeting of the Breakfast Program was well attended with 64 in attendance; 68 had responded so cost was for 68 individuals. The next Breakfast program will be October 2nd. Fred Hawthorn, Stewart Lowry, and Rod Gelatt (intandem) will do a Q&A session November 6.
Membership – Ernest Hilderbrand. There are 1,345 members paid to date with 567 of these lifetime members. The new MURA brochure is almost finished and ready for designer.
UM Retiree Committee – Bob Stewart. Ken Hutchinson will retire in December. The Benefits office is moving to new facilities on Nifong.
University Liaison – Behymer for Gary Smith. Meetings for spring and fall with the Chancellor have been scheduled. Meetings with UM President and Board of Curator’s will be arranged.
Communications – Tom Freeman. President Behymer commented on what a quality job has been done on the Newsletter by Tom. The directory is in progress. If members are not paid up, they will not be in the directory.
Staff Council – Loretta Ross. The Staff Council approved the resolution on proposal to change ID of MU to University of Missouri (dropping “Columbia”). The Council was upset that the benefits office was moving as it would be difficult for some to visit the office.
Faculty Council– Ed Hunvald. G. B. Thompson will be the substitute to attend meetings.
Other Business:
Committees – Are there other services MURA can supply for members, such as more programming, other interests?
United Way – Letter has been sent by Jo Behymer and a notice in the newsletter.
President Search – On hold for the present time.
Board of Curator’s – Next meeting will be in Columbia October 4 and 5.
Next BOD meeting will be February 12, 2008.
