Treasurer

Tom Freeman filled in for Bob Marshall and reported the checkbook balance as $5034.70 and the total assets were $53,250.46. Treasurer's report was approved by the board.

Membership

Ernest Hilderbrand reported that Greg Johnson had been working with him on having all addresses of members updated with correct addresses with the zip plus four digits for new retirees. There are 1,359 total members with 555 being lifetime members. 1,055 of these are current with dues and 304 dilenquent. Since Ernest began the membership duties, 144 members have passed away. He also suggested that notice should be given to those members who have used COIN for email as it no longer exists and members need to provide their new email address.

Faculty Council

Dean Yarwood reported that they were looking at benefits. He also requested having a backup individual to attend meetings when he was unable to.

A letter from Chancellor Deaton to Linda Cook was provided in regard to changing the MURA membership on the Chancellor's Retiree Advisory Committee. Most likely the changes to this committee will be approved by the Faculty Council. Currently there are four staff, four council and four retirees on this committee. Chancellor Deaton suggested that he appoint the Chairman for this committee.

A motion was made by Gary Smith: Moved that the three Past Presidents constitute a nominating committee to make nominations for the Chancellor's Retiree Advisory Committee and to review appointments to all campus standing committees and make recommendations to the MURA Board of Directors. The nominating committee shall have a total of five members with a minimum of one female and one staff member appointed by the MURA president. Seconded by Stewart, Motion was approved.

Staff Council

Loretta Ross reported that their agenda was full and said they have an annual budget of $50,000 ($25,000 from the Chancellor and $25,000 from Development) and have had carry overs of budget for several years. The majority of this budget is spent on the secretary's salary of $38,000. They want to redo their website and get someone to do minutes. The Staff Recognition week did not do as well as the previous year.

MU Retiree Benefits

Bob Stewart reported the Curator's meeting will be held in the next few weeks. It was recommended that MURA encourage anyone to attend the Curator's meetings as a show of force.

Miscellaneous

Program Committee will meet on July 11 at 2:00 at Hyvee

United Way - the concensus was for the President to mention this at the Fall Meeting and in the newsletter.

AROHE was discussed. It was agreed that the President-elect attend the meeting held ever two years and pay this individual $750.00 total, including registration and pay the annual dues. Hilderbrand/Smith, approved by BOD.

Spring Business and Fall MURA Meetings Attendance: It seems that retiree's pension increases and benefits bring the most attendance; perhaps ask President Floyd speak on retiree's increases, or perhaps one of the Curators?

Retiree Volunteer Hours: Poll MURA members by email or newsletter on hours they provide MU in a volunteer status?

Fall Senior Fest: Tom Freeman agreed to find out more on this topic but BOD agreed the $250/table was probably too much to spend on a small group to benefit from this expense.

MURA Brochure: It was agreed the MURA brochure needs an update.

Ex-Presidents: Charles Cramer reported MURA ex-Presidents have been meeting about every three months. They have no status as such and no reports.

Meeting adjourned at 3:35 p.m.
