Board Meeting Minutes
July 5, 2005
PDF Printable version of MinutesMeeting was called to order by President Tom Freeman at 2:00 p.m. Those in attendance were: John Bauman, Charles Cramer, President Freeman, Rod Gelatt, Kee Groshong, Ernest Hilderbrand, Ruth Miluski, Loretta Ross, Ken Schneeberger, Bob Stewart, Dean Yarwood, and Sylvia Bradfield
Minutes of the April 27, 2005 BOD meeting were approved - Hilderbrand/Cramer. Placing MURA Directory and recent newsletter and application forms plus an IT flyer in pension packets for newly UM retirees was discussed. Gary Smith will contact Mike Paden for further exploration.
President's Report - Calendar for the remainder of 2005 and 2006 was distributed. A draft of the August Newsletter was distributed for comments and suggestions. Discussion followed.
UM Retiree Benefits - Bob Stewart said the committee would be meeting July 7 to explore the medicare advantage and an update on drug program.
Membership - Ernest Hilderbrand reported there are 4,922 retirees living in the Columbia area with 1,402 being MURA members. He currently has 600 email addresses and would like to increase this amount.
Finance, Governmental Affairs - no report.
Retiree Benefits - John Bauman distributed a handout to be in the next newsletter. He also distributed copies of Ken Hutchinson's article that appeared in the June 9, 2005 issue of Mizzou Weekly.
Chancellor Retiree Awards - Tom Brown has asked to be excused from this committee.
Program - Rod Gelatt reported that the Program Committee will meet July 14.
Staff Council - Ruth Miluski and Loretta Ross recently attended one of their meetings and said they were discussing a new staff award.
Faculty Council - Dean Yarwood - He suggested that MURA, IFC, and members of Faculty Council meet to discuss retiree problems and get scheduled for a Faculty Council meeting. Meeting adjourned at 4:15 p.m.
October 12 next MURA BOD meeting.
