Board Meeting Minutes

Meeting was called to order by President Tom Freeman at 2:00 p.m. Those in attendance were: Tom Freeman, Rod Gelatt, John Bauman, Ruth Milusky, Loretta Ross, Charles Cramer, Bill Stringer, Bob Marshall, Ernest Hilderbrand, Gary Smith, Bob Stewart, Ken Schneeberger, Kee Groshong, Jo Behymer, and Sylvia Bradfield

Golf

The annual golf tournament, conducted by Rex Dillow, is an invitational tournament with the income and expenses continuing to be accounted by MURA.

Governmental Affairs

Ken Schneeberger discussed reports on legislation in the General Assembly, specifically HB 1865 (Changing the process for funding higher ed) and SB 616 and HB 1620 (assisted living).

UM Retirees Benefits

Bob Stewart said the Board of Curator's will meet on May 4 at UMSL which he will attend along with Gary Smith and Tom Freeman. Gary Smith encouraged MURA to meet with the President and Chancellor in the spring and fall to keep MURA in the forefront.

Retiree Benefits

John Bauman reported that he, Kee Groshong, Gary Smith, and Tom Freeman met with Bill Lamberson (chair of Faculty Council) over lunch at the University Club.

Treasurer

Bob Marshall reported there is a checkbook balance of $4326.99 and total assets are $54,942.86. Ernest Hilderbrand will replace Don Hoehle on the Finance Committee along with Kee Groshong, Charles Cramer, and Bob Marshall. This committee will review MURA's portfolio on an annual basis.

Minutes

Minutes of the February 8, 2006 MURA BOD were approved. Bauman/Stringer MEMBERSHIP: Ernest Hilderbrand said the new address label on the newsletter with dues date has been very effective. There is a total of 1,363 membership.

Program

Rod Gelatt said the next meeting of the Program Committee will be at 2:00 p.m. on May 11 at Hyvee to finish planning the picnic.

Staff Council

Ruth Miluski and Loretta Ross both attended the last Staff Council meeting. This group is planning the staff recognition week in May. The UM Hospital will no longer be participating in this event or the council as they are starting their own group. A survey of current employees was given to Tom Freeman.
